Cheddar Sage Shortbread
A savory and delicious way to enjoy your herbs and cheese. Wonderful with wine or beer. From Faith, our V.P.
1 cup butter, cut into pieces
l lb. sharp cheddar cheese, finely grated
2 cups flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tsp salt
2 tsps finely chopped sage
1 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne
Mix butter until creamy. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Roll dough into two logs and wrap in plastic. Chill at least one hour. Cut dough into 1/4” slices. Place on cookie sheet about one inch apart. Bake in a 370 degree oven for 10 to 20 minutes until golden.
